Health Equity Action Learnings (HEAL) Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation whose mandate is to conduct research and advocacy for achieving health equity for a diverse population, with a special focus on marginalised and vulnerable communities. The organisation is a platform that aims to influence health policy making to promote principles of social justice, and participation and inclusion of stakeholders directly impacted by health policies. Research areas of the organisation encompass health, healthcare and social determinants of health through participatory processes and community engagement. To benefit individuals coming from different socio-economic backgrounds, honouring and respecting diversity of the population, this organization aims to focus on limiting the individualized challenges faced by the people and to bring them to the same level of health and wellbeing as majority of the population.
Healthy individuals are possible only in a healthy society, where social security and human development are of high priority. By virtue of wide diversity of India the social determinants of health often unaddressed which invariably has an impact on the burden of diseases. The team Heal works as a transforming league with the needy communities, associated health institutions and decision making bodies to frame, enable and implement policies that build upon the foundation of social justice, equitable distribution, inclusion within all diversities and disparities.
The multipronged approach integrates research, education, health promoting activities and community engagement addressing various social determinants of health beneficial to individuals and societies from different socio-economic-cultural backgrounds, honoring and respecting their originality and diversity.. The organization aims to focus on limiting the individualized challenges and social obstacles faced by the disadvantaged community and to bring them to the same level of health and wellbeing as general population.
